For those of you looking for a new M/C, I shopped around and found the
following: From the original casting, I was able to cross reference it to a Duralast 11-2329. I received it and it is indeed identical. I even checked that it displaced the same amount, and it is indeed correct. Pep-Boys' price for this one was $274. AutoZone had it for $71, with a $45 refundable core charge. Needless to say, I bought it from AutoZone. It was special order, but they had it to me in less than 24 hours. My local AutoZone manager has been putting in requests to add these D parts to the A-Z database under DeLorean, so they should show up in their systems soon. The M/C cross-references back to a few SAABs. I have marked down in my personal x-ref sheets that this is the same MC as a 1986 SAAB 900. I got the rest of the engine back together this week, and it's now just
waiting for the turbos to finish everything up. I should be picking those up at the end of the month. After those go in, the back wheels
will go on, and I'll roll the chassis outside in order to move the engine to the back of the garage.

Note the blocks used to hold up trans. These are just 2x4 blocks with a 3/8" hole drilled through them, and 6" bolts to secure them through the trans casing. |
