November 6 -12, 1999
I started off this week by separating out all of the suspension bolts, and polishing them on a wire wheel. This in effect cleans the threads and gives accurate torque readings. I then give them a light coat of clear paint as a rust preventative
New brake calipers I purchased last week from Pep Boys with the old ones for comparison. These are lifetime warranteed, and even came complete with all hardware and lifetime pads for only $75 each.
I finally got all the boxes unpacked and can finally work in front of the car without fear of an avalanche.
It's starting to resemble a car
again. I took the hood off shortly after and put it in my dining
room for safekeeping.
(Can you tell I'm single?) The doors, seats, and interior components are stored there also, |

I stripped and primed all of the suspension components, then coated them with semi-gloss black.
Note the nut cage for the body mounting nuts. I guess it's pretty common for the welds to break (as can be seen on the right of the cage). I bent it back, then found a bolt approximately the right size to 'tension' the side of the cage against the frame. Then, I epoxy-puttied the bolt in place. Welding would be easier, but I don't have the equipment.
The frame is all painted and cleaned, and ready for lots of things to be bolted to it. =)
Front coil towers rustproofed, painted, and ready for suspension components.
