Richard / List. I am a big fan of both our news group and Website. They permit me (and other club members) to send out instant notifications of all sorts of info ranging from upcoming events, parts/ cars for sale, paying "appearances" where cars can be used in publicity etc. The website has costs for Martin and the club to keep going, this is a good source if initial info for people, and a good source of new "club " recruits. When Tris and I first talked about starting the DOC news group it was intended for UK club members only......Why? Well to run the club, to arrange shows, to stock spares, to offer a good service, costs money. Most of us contribute time, stamps, postage, long phone-calls to members, etc. etc. completely free. But a successful club has to reach the other 50% non-computer literate DeLorean owners. They relay on the news letter, Magazines, shows, telephone etc. Out of the £15 full club members pay, most goes on printing, and spares and product acquisitions. Spending your £15 per year confirms to me, as club secretary, that you are a "serious" DeLorean enthusiast, who me and the rest of the club members will do our best to help either to find a car or inspect it with you, or point you towards your best buys in spares or services....the £15 is about commitment. I commit about 20 hours a week to OUR DeLorean club...FOC. Many club members don't yet own DeLorean's, but many find that spending that first £15 is a jolly good long term investment. Many members have found their DeLorean through the club. Cyberspace has its place in any modern club, but its only part of the story. I regard any person who won't spend £15 a year, frankly, as a tight arse! Sorry if this offends, but this has been building up for a little while.
