Starting problems

The DMC had its first starting problems in 2 years today. I drove around for 
a while, and parked; shutting it off for a little while. When I came back, I 
turned the key, and it turned over, and when it was running, I let go of the 
key, and it sputtered and died. The DMC would not start after this. The 
starter would go, but the engine wouldn't start. After a while, though, it 
did fire. This also happened later that day, after I had it off for around an 
hour.
