I will quote the Gold Portfolio,

"For promotional purposes, another turbo engine was developed by legend (as 
pictured). This particular engine, now owned by Ed Bernstein, co-owner of 
Delorean One, was displayed around the country."

The pictures in the article depict an engine that is much shinier and cleaner 
than the one in #502, and indeed it is. You have to consider that this 
picture was taken when the engine was new, 1984. The one in #502 has 
thousands of miles on it, and was not constructed for display. Therefore, it 
is logical to deduce that the two engines are not going to appear to be 
exactly the same.
