On the other hand, you could have done worse. You could have bought a
Bricklin. Bricklins,
while they have more power, have REALLY poor design and suspension although
their wiring is
better and is mostly absent of Delorean era electronics. The acrylic body
(no Erik, it is not
fiberglass) does resist dents and gouges quite well, but is very susceptible
to stress cracks
and cannot be repaired or painted easily (nor can a Delorean). And as far as
JZD being a
genius, well while he was at the top of his class, he did nothing more
spectacular than Malcom
Bricklin. >>

As a Bricklin and Delorean owner since 1980 I had to respond to Steves
Remarks on The Bricklin,First off, acrylic in itself is too weak to be a body
panel,The Bricklin is a fiberglassed car with acrylic bonded to the
fiberglass, like the colored fiberglass bathtubs,Second ,The design on both
the B and the D were designed for their time period and they both are still
timeless, for a seventies car(Bricklin)it handled its own against the same
year corvettes as far as fiberglass stress cracks go,a Bricklin taken care of
is no worse than a Corvette, and as far as painting a Delorean or a
Bricklin, they both can be painted if you know what you are doing, also if
people like JZD,or Malcom Bricklin,or Mr.Ford,or Wright brothers,or any other
person with visions,if they did not act upon their dreams, chances are you
would not have what you have today.Come on Steve if both cars are as bad as
you say,why have you hung on to them as long as you have,The suspension on
the Delorean,is just as good as a mid 80's Lotus Esprit, and the"bugs" on the
D,that is what this List is all about,to help each other when we have
problems with our Deloreans as they age.
