Just out of curiosity... what "Idle air blocks" are you using? (Pic?) Richard -----Original Message----- From: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Owen Sent: Monday, April 23, 2012 12:17 PM To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [DML] EFI Conversion Kit Bill, it would certainly improve your credibility if you were to check your facts first and converse with those individuals whom you seem to wish to disparage. Owen does not have a problem. Owen does however have purchase-ready fuel rails, hold down brackets and idle air control blocks should anyone in the community wish to purchase them to convert a stock car to EFI. We also have a bill of materials and lots of pictures. Detailed instructions are slowly but surely coming along. I am not actively marketing any of this, nor as you can see, trying to promote the conversion to EFI for anyone not willing to invest the necessary time and energy in educating oneself. I do not try to mislead anyone into believing this is "plug and play" and I have no desire to hold anyone's hand. I am however fully willing to help those that wish to help themselves. I learned from others and am trying to help the next wave. The ONLY reason I can get these parts for people is that we had to carefully measure, cut and refine each one to make it fit. We therefore have the final measurements and can save others the "joy" of fabrication. We standardized it. As Shannon eloquently pointed out, we appear to have identified an issue with a supplier's product. They are currently working with us to resolve the issue. As stated, MY unit is working just great and has run both of the prototype cars too. As it is, both of them have been driving around and perfecting their tune, but with the limitation of the box losing synchronization with the distributor >3,500 RPM, it cannot be considered "done". In the meantime, users can simply buy a 3.0 generation board. And to set you straight again, MY tune fired right up on Shannon's car. EVERY car will require fine tuning, but one of the super nice things about TunerStudio is its VE analyzer that basically allows you to drive and it self tunes. That is assuming the user is both smart enough and motivated enough to understand the concept of target air/fuel ratios. Likewise, unless you have the ability to grasp the whole issue of timing advance, stick with the conservative stock setup. THESE tables are absolutely 100% copyable. Your information on interpolation and table sizes is also wrong. You can have 12x12 or 16x16 true enough, but YOU fully control the scale on the X and Y axis. That means if I want a lot of detail between 700 and 2000 RPM, I can have it. You really only need a single value at both 5000 and 6000 and the software interpolates between the two. So at the end of the day it is not a linear table. VERY powerful. In the vein of continuous improvement I am always tinkering with the new features and trying to find even more performance from the stock car. Yes, sometimes it doesn't work and I either reload the previous tune or simply autotune it again. Development time as you call it, ended a long, long time ago. I haven't been exiled from the DMCtalk boards and choose to communicate freely, positively and openly in those forums. I only joined this board to set the story straight. Anyone that wishes to respectfully learn, share or just watch is welcome over there. Bill, I've never had a personal problem with you and in fact some of your ideas have made their way into my car. If you would like to pass commentary on what you think you understand of the technology you have chosen not to employ yourself, so be it. Do me the civil favor of leaving my name out of your running commentaries. --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:dmcnews%40yahoogroups.com> , "content22207" <brobertson@...> wrote: > > Not my problem -- Owen's problem. > > I'm just updating EFI enthusiasts (including those who claim that one owner can perfect a fuel map that others simply download -- see Message #84497) of Owen's current progress. > > Owen gave the impression earlier this year that a simple bolt on EFI conversion for DeLoreans was right around the corner. This whole discussion is better taken over to the M/S forum where you can get more experienced help specific to your problem. No one on this forum has enough experience to give informed advice, this is a Delorean forum where we can help you with the stock fuel system. Perhaps a forum could be set up just to deal with engine conversions and engine modifications for the Delorean. > > David Teitelbaum > > > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:dmcnews%40yahoogroups.com> , "content22207" <brobertson@> wrote: > > > > > > That is what Owen is trying to make -- a standardized kit of identical EFI parts that can share fuel maps. That's why a kit with everything identical to each kit is so important. Short of providing a kit, a Bill of Materials would do but then you give the person the chance to substitute or change things. Production cars are close enough so it all works and the software has some adjustablity to compensate for the minor variations in each motor. If you are trying to find reasons for people to NOT convert to EFI, many of them apply to changing to a carburetor. For all of the effort a properly done conversion will take, IMHO it is easier to try to fix the K-Jet and get it running right. As for downloading a fuel map, I am sure one could be created that is wide enough to get you running and then each individual could fine-tune it (or not). EFI keeps improving all time. I am sure eventually this could become more automated and easier to do. In the meantime the K-Jet has been optimized to work well on the Delorean (when it is working right). > > > > David Teitelbaum > > > > > > > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:dmcnews%40yahoogroups.com> , "content22207" <brobertson@> wrote: > > > > > > > > > > That is a problem the guys in Texas have been having: getting one car to start in the first place -- even with fuel maps (and even the controller itself) that worked on another car.
