Not my problem -- Owen's problem. I'm just updating EFI enthusiasts (including those who claim that one owner can perfect a fuel map that others simply download -- see Message #84497) of Owen's current progress. Owen gave the impression earlier this year that a simple bolt on EFI conversion for DeLoreans was right around the corner. Development time appears to be longer now. This whole discussion is better taken over to the M/S forum where you can get more experienced help specific to your problem. No one on this forum has enough experience to give informed advice, this is a Delorean forum where we can help you with the stock fuel system. Perhaps a forum could be set up just to deal with engine conversions and engine modifications for the Delorean. > David Teitelbaum > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "content22207" <brobertson@> wrote: > > > > That is what Owen is trying to make -- a standardized kit of identical EFI parts that can share fuel maps. That's why a kit with everything identical to each kit is so important. Short of providing a kit, a Bill of Materials would do but then you give the person the chance to substitute or change things. Production cars are close enough so it all works and the software has some adjustablity to compensate for the minor variations in each motor. If you are trying to find reasons for people to NOT convert to EFI, many of them apply to changing to a carburetor. For all of the effort a properly done conversion will take, IMHO it is easier to try to fix the K-Jet and get it running right. As for downloading a fuel map, I am sure one could be created that is wide enough to get you running and then each individual could fine-tune it (or not). EFI keeps improving all time. I am sure eventually this could become more automated and easier to do. In the meantime the K-Jet has been optimized to work well on the Delorean (when it is working right). > > > David Teitelbaum > > > > > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "content22207" <brobertson@> wrote: > > > > > > > > That is a problem the guys in Texas have been having: getting one car to start in the first place -- even with fuel maps (and even the controller itself) that worked on another car. That is why I think David is overly optimistic about simply downloading a fuel map. > > > > > > > > Bil > > > > > > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
