Matt, How did you press it in. Do you have a 20 ton press or something like that and the proper OD of the bearing / ID of the hub they are going in. If they were not pressed in properly it may cause the looseness your talking about. You can't just press on the inner race of the bearing with the force it takes to install them w/out causing a problem. I'm doing a frame-off restoration on my car, and I've gotten to the point of putting the suspension back on the car. I even pressed in new wheel bearings that I purchased from a vendor. Anyway, on one of the rear drive shafts (the piece that's pressed into the rear wheel bearing), I can wiggle it up and down about 1mm. On the other side, I cannot wiggle it at all. All of the play is within the wheel bearing itself. Note, that I have *not* installed the rear hub or torqued the large nut yet. So, does this mean I have a bad wheel bearing out of the box, or am I jumping the gun here? thanks, Matt #1604 To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
