Woody, what year and mileage are the motor?  (Price sounds a bit high.)  For reference, I bought a complete '88 Premier (112k miles) that I drove home for $400.  And I later bought a 91 engine only (20k miles) from a local salvage yard for $200.  I'm sure prices may vary, but these have been my experiences in the DC/Metro Area.
