Hi all, I know someone was interested in this!!!. I think it was Chris?. Just a note to tell you that MXI 4811 now has all new studs fitted for the exhaust system.. The stud which was broken was O/S nearest the gearbox (the worst one), Today I got a small dot punch and marked the centre of the stud (which was broken flush with the head) I then used a meter long flexible extension dill, and as I held the end in position my uncle worked the drill (a two person job), started with a small drill bit, cut so it would not go through the water jacket!. then went up to a larger size so I could get an easy out stud remover in the hole, the broken stud came out first time and after I tapped it out (hard to find size-- 7by1, got mine from Snap-On for 4 pounds). got the new stud in and the job was done.....thats got to be better than removing the engine or the head!. At last I can start getting the exhaust system back together, can`t wait to see them tail pipes hanging out the back again!!. all the system has had new gaskets and studs, I also got the manifolds skimed as both were warped and did not sit flush with the head (I belive the manifold gasket has been bad for a long time). If I had put them back like that the gasket would have not sealed very well!. At least the worst job is done, now I have to do fuel pipes, and a few bits and bobs... looks like Vin 569 launch date will be 1/4/04 after all !!. hope to see you all at some shows next year!.
