Re: [doc] Re: RELAY (UPDATE)

Hi Folks

Well the problem with my relays seems to be ok now.  I went back to the car
last night after work and sprayed electrical cleaner in all the sockets and
then replaced the relays, I also checked all the wires underneath to make
sure that they were all tight.

The car fired straight up which is rare for my car without a bit of throttle
first - so I may have fixed the starter/fuel relay completly.

As for my relay compartment.  When I first got the car my relays were all
the original, I had the two fan fail relays still fitted which I quickly
updated to John Herveys kit.  The main difference with any other relay
compartment I have seen is that my fuel pump relay is to the right of the
compartment lamp delay relay and not to the left of it like everyone elses -
and that I have about 5 spare relay housings all over the place too the back
of the rear wall.

Well thats about that, I will see you all at the NEC hopefully with my car,
which I am having prblems convincing my father to navigate for me.......

Alistair.

Try http://www.deloreanparts.com/zilla_006.htm for a guide to
adjusting the electrical relay connections.

It depends what your relay plugin 'bar' is like. Several of the wires
on my car were loose. In fact until I adjusted mine (and sorted/moved)
the circuit breaker, the whole metal panel on which the lock module
sits was 'live' measuring ~12v!!!

Out of curiosity what was in your fan fail and cooling fan relay
sockets when you got it. Mine had the factory recall jumper wire but
with an original blue fan fail module in the glovebox.

Many of the connectors needed cleaning, and I went through 5 sets of
dashboard instrument fuses in a week (this settled then settled
down). The biggest improvement was after DMUK added a new ground
cable to the dash ground point (behind the radio on the RHS), see
files\electrical.
