Not that hard if the gearbox wasn't in a DeLorean. The Renault UN1 gearbox has the capability to drive a speedometer cable. The problem for the DeLorean is that the driven gear is installed such that it faces towards the rear of the car so the speedometer cable would have to make a large radius u-turn back towards the passenger compartment - or add some kind of gearbox to change direction in a smaller radius. I would guess this is the reason why we have an angle drive on the front wheel. -- Mike -------------- Original message from Clint Pearson <cpear760@xxxxxxxxx>: -------------- With all the angle drive issues, how feasible would it be to modify the > transmission to drive the speedo cable instead? > > Nice work with omitting the angle drive though. > > Clint > 4739 > > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
