[DML] YET ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH JOSH'S BEAST

Again, I'm scratching my head. Two weeks ago, we took Josh's car out for a spin. It ran perfectly for about 8-9 miles. After we got back, we shut it down and checked everything over for any problems. After about a half hour, tried to start it up, and NO GO.
Okay, hot start problem. Hence, all the posts about the accumulator. I had to go out of town for a week, so yesterday was the first day I was able to fire it up after changing the bad accumulator. One half second of cranking and it fired right up. Idle was a bit low (650-700) but it was running. Wasn't able to accelerate and as the car warmed up, I kept having to add throttle to keep it running (up to 2000 rpm). As soon as the thermostat opened, I let off the throttle and it died. It would not start after that.
Today, I tried again----exactly the same thing. Fired right off, low idle, and I had to keep adding throttle to keep it running. As soon as I let off the throttle, it died again.
Does anyone have any idea why changing the fuel accumulator would cause this problem? And I can't put the old one back in, since it is the one I cut in half.
