I drive mine regularly until the low fuel light STAYS on, even when
driving uphill or in turns. When it stops flickering there's still gas left
for at least 30-50miles.

I've driven it to where it gets to the zero, but not until the light
came on. I'm too cautious. (I'm the risk-taker in my family, filling up
usually at a quarter tank. Everyone else fills up at the half.)
