Or simply use a large aluminum tuna fish can, which does have a solid
bottom to keep fuel from sliding out.
Small holes drilled around the base will continue to let fuel in even
if the tank level drops below the can lip, but prevent it from rapidly
leaving during hard maneuvers.
Since the pump barb and pickup screen barb basically touch it other,
there is zero chance of cavitation -- ever. Only about 1 inch of hose
overlaps the barbs and merely holds them together.
Cost: $1.
Installation time: 1 minute.
Never worrying about or messing with the fuel tank ever again: priceless.
