Hi David,

How exactly is the battery in the D ventilated?  I know you are correct but I don't remember seeing any means of ventilation any time I have been in there.  
Does the gas rise or fall in normal atmospheric conditions? This is important to know if one were to modify the battery compartment so it can ventilate.
