Because you're burning up your motors.... I could make a joke about letting go of the switch, but there is a real potential problem here: If a switch isn't positioned correctly in the console, it can bind and not spring back when you release it. Clearance between the console and the fiberglass spine is extremely tight -- you've got to position the wiring harness and connectors carefully for the switches to seat properly.
