/Is there a source for a new or alternate part?/
Funny you should ask.
The cover seals we sell are new. I don't think NOS seals have been available for a long time. They weren't very good. They would shrink and harden and crack when exposed to heat and gasoline fumes. The new ones are still made of a plastic dip material that can contract and stiffen when subjected to heat, but the effect is much less. Better living through chemistry.
