Hi Mike,
You could try hooking the fuel pump up directly to a car battery. HOWEVER!!
Make sure you have long heavy gauge wires and make your final connection at
the battery, a few feet from the pump. You don't want the contact spark
igniting any fuel vapors!! Just connect it long enough to see if it will run.
If it is the original pump, it should be replaced by now anyway.
