After 11 years of ownership my car left me stranded. I was starting from a red light when the car started to buck so I pulled over and it died. I tried to restart and it just cranks. I got it towed home and when I put the key in the on position I notice I don't hear the hum of the fuel pump. I tried to jump the relay to see if I could get the pump running but nothing happens. I noticed the past few times I would take the car out sometimes it would buck but it would stay running and then go alright. It can't be the inertia switch because it was bypassed before I owned the car and it never caused any problems in my 11 years of ownership. I also checked the fuse and it was okay. Does this sound like I need a new fuel pump? Is there a way to test the fuel pump out of the car to make sure it's the pump or something else? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
