One of the first jobs my son had with the Target corp. was a buyer for the
automotive lines the Target stores carry. He visited the Champion
corporation and they had an area with examples of all the filters they
produce. Fram was the only company not represented there. Simply because
Champion produces them doesn't mean they're all the same. They're
manufactured to various specifications that are dictated by the companies
who order them. The differences include items like those Marc has mentioned:
different by pass specs, the degree of filtration in the paper used and so
on. Saying they are made by Champion really has no bearing on the
performance aspects of the filters.
