Some more information.. I made some calls this morning. The Purflux LS 410C has NO anti-drainback valve, and NO bypass valve! (Something to consider if you are lazy about changing your oil). I was also told that if someone is willing to buy the Purflux in quantity (50 or more at a time), they can still be had at a reasonable price here. Then I ask myself, is Purflux really the best choice? and is it worth the premium cost? So, we are back to the question as to WHY Purflux? Why is this filter the best for our DeLoreans? Do filters with the anti-drainback valve somehow impede oil flow? If the filter has the bypass, does it stay open all the time at our operating pressures? I also spoke to Bosch. The 72138 filter that was on the X-Ref link I sent does have a AD valve, and a bypass of 16psi. Kind of low. The 72150 that Hervey sells is 36psi. I think that is a better number for our car, but suspect it may still open prematurely. The only way to know for sure would be to monitor the pressure simultaneously on both sides of the filter. As of yet, I have not looked to get specifications on the Mann W 719/5 filters, maybe John can supply us with them? FWIW, it looks like the Mann and Mahle filters are also made by Champion. http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy-german.html Again, based on the various information of oil-filter studies on the Internet, Wix looks like a good choice for quality and availability. They have a filter listed for DeLorean, the 51307, but the diameter is 3.663 inches which I think will interfere with the oil sender. It looks to me like someone at Wix just took the Volvo filter and said "it will fit a DeLorean too". A X-Ref search for the Bosch 72150 comes up with a Wix 51342. This filter has a diameter of 2.921, which is smaller than the Purflux (3.385). It also has a by-pass of 16PSI, which I think is too low. Amazing that a company can claim it is a cross reference when the Bosch is 36psi! My local Napa has a full book with all of the oil filter specifications. When I have some time, I will go through it and see what I can find (NAPA filters are made by WIX). --- Marc Levy <malevy_nj@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > This is, of course, why I asked the question..
