This may not really be a good solution but it has worked for me. My
car, is pristine and only has 12,200 miles on it yet I have the same
problem that you have described.
Believe it or not, I simply epoxied the switch in the door frame with
some 5 minute epoxy and then put a "glob" of hot glue inside the rubber
cover, and slid it back on.
The hot glue keeps the rubber bumper from going on all of the way and
held it in place. The end result has been that it is a bit longer now,
as a result of the hot glue, and the lights do not come on from a bump
or me placing my leg against the door. All-in-all a great fix, that
does not show, and has worked well for the past two years.
