Jumping D

My DeLorean drives perfectly on a full tank of petrol, however once I get to
half a tank pulling away from rest creates 'fuel starved' behaviour.
Accelerating at slow speeds causes the car to lunge, hic-cup, jerk and in
some cases stall.

Filling the tank causes the problems to disappear until it reaches the half
way mark and then the symptoms re-occur.

Anyone experienced this???
