You bring up several interesting points in a topic that I admit I have strong 
feelings about. If someone were to take pictures of my car, and add them to 
like a tribute website, or a fansite, or something like that, I probably wouldn't 
mind. That of course is dependant upon in what light the DeLorean is 
represented in. But if pictures of my car were used to try and sell another 
person's vehicle, then I would not be happy in the least bit. I take pride in both 
my car, and the amount of work that has gone into it. So for someone else to 
simply come along and use my pictures to represent their car, that's like 
cheating of my test. But to use my work to actually profit by the sale of a car, 
or any other means, that's theft of my intellectual property. Nor is it something 
that I would ever give permission for.

Personal feelings aside, it is not fair to a buyer to falsely represent a car with 
photos that are not of that car. When buying a classic car (or even a simple 
used car for that matter), you take many things into account. Specificly your 
budget. Crudely put, if the price of the car + the price of parts needed to repair 
it exceed your budget, then you are unable to afford that car. Pictures of things 
such as the engine compartment can greatly help you asert part of the money 
nessisary to repair the car, if not give you an idea about how th vehicle has 
been cared for. I've run across cars that run well, but have had every single 
fuel hose on the engine cracked and rotten, along with the vapor hoses. 
These items alone will cost you a few bucks to replace. Now, on the flip side 
of things, you said what does it matter what picture is used since they all look 
alike? Indeed, what does it matter. If they have a car that is in good condition, 
and looks just like everyother car, then why bother to insert a photo at all? If 
we all know what the car looks like, then what is the point? Obviously, pictures 
are included to help boost the value of the car, if not simply encourage buyers 
(or in this case bidders) to purcahse the car. Not matter if you're on eBay, or 
Autotrader, you'll always be drawn first to the ads with pictures on them.
