Coolant temp

Hi all

What is the average tempature should the DMC run at? When driving my car say
5 miles the fans will come on a few times with the outside temp about
50-60deg .The fans appear to cut in at 180deg. Another thing i have noticed
is normally the fan kick in for a very short time but the next time they
kick in they go on for a while. Just wondered if this normal or my car is
running hot?. I have replaced at the cooling hoses and have a metal rad.
