how hot is too hot?

My DeLorean is my daily driver here in San Jose, California, and lately
it's been running a little hot. My car is garaged at night, and on the 20
minute trip to work (straight shot down the highway) I don't notice the
car getting hot. Then when I leave work, the sun is usually either down or
on its way down.

Over the last couple of days though, I've driven the car quite a bit in
the middle of the day. The air conditioning isn't working, so of course
I'm hot, but the car has been running hot as well. Usually, the temp gauge
sits somewhere between the 220 mark, and the tick mark below it (160). In
the sun though, the temperature goes just a little above 220, and today
got half way between 220 and the next higher tick (240).

I had the entire cooling system replaced by Don at DMC Garden Grove just a
few months ago, and I've installed DMC Joe's Overheat Protector and a
stainless steel header bottle. I feel like my car should be rock solid,
but i'm a little worried that she's running too hot. Does this sound a
little hot, or am I just blowing steam?
