The drain or "weep" hole you are referring to is common to most water pumps.
The large water pump hoses are no more prone to leakage as any other hose in
the cooling system. The only sure way to determine the source of your water
leak is by conducting a pressure test, most auto service facilities can
perform this test in under 3 minutes.
