I have the same problem with my '83. Although I haven't been able to get it 
up to any decent spees as of yet, because of my warm up regulator not 
functioning, I did get to drive it down my driveway, and the brakes didn't 
seem to be friendly with me either. I don't know what caused this, but after 
the regulator is done with, I plan on pulling the brakes off and giving them 
a good check.
