Before the Tennessee trip, on checking my car, with only 51,000 kms, (approx.35,000 miles) I have discovered that it needs yet another steering rack replaced or rebuilt. There was one replaced at about 30,000 kms, before I bought it. The front wheels do not vibrate, and the tires show no unusual wear. However, when raised off the floor, the tires will move when twisted manually, about 1 1/2" - 2" side to side. The ball joints, hangers and rest of the steering assembly is tight. My licenced mechanic has never seen a situation like this, requiring a new rack so soon, or the fact of no tire wear, vibration or signs of looseness. This car could have gone to Pigeon Forge, a 775 mile drive, as a serious potential accident, looking for a happening. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
