This has nothing to do with Joe's experience but it is a BIG problem
on E-bay as well.
BE VERY CAREFUL IN ACCEPTING CASHIER'S CHECKS OR BANK CHECKS!
There have been many instances of counterfeit checks. While it is
true a bank will give you cash when you present such a check when it
is "bounced" back to them they WILL deduct it from your account.
Before accepting a cashier's check you should call the issuing bank to
verify it's authenticity. That or deposit and wait 2 weeks before
delivering any merchandise. This means you cannot sell a car on a
weekend unless the deal is CASH! These checks look like the real deal
but they ARE NOT!

Slight math error - based on your numbers 4400 miles at $0.25 a mile
= $1100, not $110, so the total "opportunity cost" is more like
$2200. Although one could certainly do better than $100 a night for
roadside motels.
I hear Dick's argument, but not everyone can take two weeks off for a
weekend event....time is more often the necessitator of this sort of
thing.

My two bottles of the stuff are NOS sealer from DMC Car Care Kits. i have
not tried the new stuff but perhaps i will now that i know there is a
difference.....
has anyone besides me noticed that the DMC stainless shampoo doesn't foam
when added to water or make bubbles? my first NOS did, then i got a second NOS
which didn't, and now the new formula from Houston doesn't either. should it?
seems to clean just fine either way.

Subject: Change Windows In A DeLorean?
Hi, just wondering if there is any way to change the side windows in
a DeLorean to standard side windows. I really dont like how the
DeLorean side windows only go up and down half way. I like the
entire window to go up and down. So if anyone has done this change
or know of a kit or if its even possible let me know. Thanks.

Ok, It is probably WAY too early to ask this but......Are there any
owners in the North East (I'm in Maine) who want to meet somewhere on
the East Coast for a awesome caravan to the event? We should plan on a
trip itinerary...stops, re-fueling, where to stay on the way etc....For
you seasoned veterans of past convoys who are already thinking of this I
would love to join as would some other from Maine who are planning on
going!!
Thanks

The fall tour is not a club event. It was started by
Mike Deluca, who thought it would be cool to have a
parade of DeLoreans following him around on his fall
weekend getaway! (Flow's clam shack, yum!).
I spoke to Mike a few weeks ago. Although I do not
think a date has been set, he did say that he intends
to do it again this year. The discussed plan (not set
in stone) is to do something in WildWood NJ.
Kevin Abato and I have been pestering Mike to make
some comitments... keeping in mind, he is not
obligated to do anything! If Mike decides to pass
this year (hey Mike, ara ya poopin?), Kevin and I may
try and set something up.... but dont expect a Ken
Koncelik type show on short notice. :)

Subject: Starting is such sweet sorrow
I have spent the last few weeks getting my DMC tuned up after years
of not being driven. The car gets better every time I work on it, but
there is still something that I haven't been able to work out. The
car is almost impossible to get started with out using starting
fluid. It has a new fuel pump, fuel filter, and cold start valve. I
doesn't matter if the engine has been sitting for days or immediate
turned over after turning it off, the car just won't fire by itself.
It also has new plugs, plug wires, distributor, rotor, and the rest
of a normal tune up kit. I have tried bypassing the thermo sensor
that controls when the cold start fires, but still no luck. Any ideas
or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to
take the car to the SEDOC cruise in this month.
Thanks,
Jai

Harold and group,
Along with the 40 amp replacement relays in the Delorean relay kit, I also
have a 70 amp power relay in a small package that I sell in the Mini Brute
and sell as a separate item. I also just picked up a surface mount( Non plug
in 75 amp ). So I think with this addition I have the delorean power needs
in a relay covered. They are putting a lot of power in the new small
packages now. Take a look.

It sounds like your relay is sticking. The circuit that starts the
relay is activated with the ignition switch but the wire going to
the relay to run the fans is "hot at all times". Get a heavy duty
relay from John Hervey (40 amps). Both fans take a full 22 amps at
run (11 amps each) and nearly 40 amps to start them. That is a lot
to take away from the starter circuit - especially if your battery
is low or marginal.

It really all depends on what your preference is for your car. I've seen several cars with their binnacles recovered in leather and vinyl... and if you don't know DeLoreans... you'd think they were supposed to be made that way. They look great! My car's previous owner put on a NOS binnacle about 4 years ago. The car was his daily driver in Georgia for 2 years, and the car has been my secondary driver for the past 2 years in North Carolina. These are both very hot, humid climates, and the binnacle still looks like new. We'll see how it fares after another 15 years of this exposure though :-).

I have just the barest of details right now. Put aside the date of
October 18-19. The Fall Tour this year will take place in Wildwood,
New Jersey. The hosting hotel is called the Ivanhoe. The phone # is
609-522-5874. Tell them you are with the Delorean group. The quoted
room rate is $75 per night per room. More details to follow and you
can keep up at the website for Deloreanmidatlantic.com (when the info
gets posted up there). Mike DeLucca from Long Islind is again
arranging the Fall Tour for us. If it goes anything like the past Fall
Tours he has run everyone can look foward to a great Delorean Weekend!
Don't put your cars away yet, we still have 1 great event to end the
season! We will be getting owners from as far away as Ohio (Ken Koncilik).
