I think everyone (except perhaps John Harvey) will tell you that the power mirror switch is non-serviceable and can't be put back together.

After tracking down all vacuum leaks after the cylinder head repair, I was
ready for a day of smooth sailing. Right out of the garage, the car shot out
like a scalded dog. I was very pleased. However, by the time I was 15
minutes into my journey things got bad. I had no acceleration and eventually
would have to shift down to 3rd just to make up the slight inclines on the
highway.
I tried disconnected the cold start valve on the way home because I thought
it might be energized all the time, but I had the same result.
I know this problem is temperature related and I'm trying to track down the
culprit. It sounds like it might be a CPR problem, although mine is new.
Could an incorrectly installed vacuum delay valve create this problem? What
else might I look for?

Another possability is that the wire connector to the fuse has backed
out of it's position in the fuse block. You aren't making contact with
it because it is out of reach. Like Harold said it is time to pull up
the fuse box and see what is going on in there.

John Hervey - seems like this one is right up your alley.
When my key is the ON position my fuel pump does not charge-up.
( Not good, Should run for about a second in the on position, )
Therefor when I turn it to START it THEN primes-up and takes a
little longer to start the engine. I've done some looking. And the
RPM Relay doesn't close in the ON position. BUT once the engine is
started the RPM relay stays closed, and the car runs just fine.
(FP running when the engine is running is a sign that the pulse coil is
working, you seem to just have a problen when you turn the key to the on
position. )
Looking at the electrical diagram tells me that if in the ON
position, the wiper blades should work too.... they DO! so the
ignition switch is fine... as is the main relay. It's only the RPM
relay that seems not to work in that position. I haven't check the
other companants on the first fuse... I just now thought of that...
but it seem like there is very little to fail between the fuse the
RPM relay... especially considering the RPM relay (and everything
else for that matter) works fine AFTER the key snaps back into the
ON Position from START.
(At this point I would swap out the RPM and see if that works.)

The quick fuel pump pulse is not actually part of the design, but an
innocuous side effect of powering the device up. On some cars you can
make the fuel pump turn over for a second by flashing the headlights. It
just puts a "spike" on the +12v rail to the RPM relay which it
interprests wrongly as a pulse from the coil

Hey Group,
I am interested in replacing my sealed beams with something a little more
modern. My Lexus has silvania silverstars in it and i know i won't get that
great of lighting without lots of modifications and conversions, but i can tell a
huge difference and need something a little more safe for night driving.
Rather i am interested in either the very best sealed beam lamps available, or
perhaps a simple halogen capsule conversion that isn't very involved.
what will give me the best results? i will replace all four lamps at once. i
go online and see many options but it is hard to tell if the lights really
are brighter at usable wavelengths, or if it is just a bunch of bogus 'fast and
furious' stuff that looks good but is worthless in the rain or on the
interstate.
any ideas?

Nope, Sylvania now makes Silver Star's in a sealed beam configuration
that will fit the DeLorean!

I've never used Silver Stars, just the Cool Blues. And the CB's I'm
VERY happy with. However on the flip side, while the SS's have a
hotter color temperature, the CB's have a higher wattage filament for
the low beams. How the two beams compare in a side by side test, I've
no idea. But, both are available to use.

I experienced a similar problem 2 years ago. What was the last time you
checked or changed your fuel filter?
Mine was so clogged up, that it because impossible for the car to keep
up good fuel pressure.

There was an article on doing this in the spring 2003 DeLorean World
mag. Basically you should be able to purchase a changer unit to go in
the compartment behind the driver, the signal is then fed to your
original head unit using an FM modulator. You signal cable is joined
to the aerial connector (already situated nearby if you have the
electrical popup aerial) and tune your original radio into the
signal. A small display module is needed to show track numbers, this
can even be made to fit in the ashtray area if you want to keep it
hidden. The controls are then run from a remote contol unit.
I am looking at the same setup in the UK, not many manufacturers
still use the FM modulator system since the quality of the sound
depends on your original head unit/speakers. They seem keen for you
to change the head unit at the same time :-(

Although the problem would seem temperature related my first guess
would be the Lambda system cutting out on you. The next time you have
a loss of power make sure the frequency valve is still buzzing. If
that doesn't help then you have to test each temperature sensitive
device and the wiring or vacuum hose routing to it. Pay particular
attention to the vacuum advance circuit.

Subject: My New DMC - Help!
Hello, everyone! We were hoping that by joining this group that
someone could help us shed some light on a few of the small problems
that we are having with the De Lorean we purchased in June of this
year. Here's the story of the car thus far: (NOTE: I have ALL the
documentation of the work done on the car. None of the things I am
about to relay are accusations, exxagerations, ect.)
We bought our "D" from a young couple in New Jersey. Her father more
or less "dumped" the car on them after he purchased it in 1997 and
basically became too ill to drive it. The older gentleman reportedly
paid around 17,000 for the car, which at the time, along with many
other things, needed work on the fuel system.
What to Do? Well..
He did what anyone else that close to New York would do, I assume:
The old fella sent the car to PJ Grady's for work. Whoo, boy, did
they work on it.
Supposedly, he put a cap of $5,000 dollars on the amount of work to
be done. That's right.. Five Grand. Bear in mind, now, that he just
paid Seventeen Grand for the car! Well.. apparently, after the car
sat for an ENTIRE YEAR at P.J. Grady's, they commenced work on it.
After receiving work that ended up totaling over SIX thousand dollars
(when he told them Five.. they went over without authorization),
The car STILL needed, according to the papers I was faxed when
looking into buying her: Exhaust Work, Auto Transmission Work, Rear
Trailing Arms, a new Drivers Side Window motor ...and the list
continued, although most of the work "needed" was fairly minor. Upon
finding this out, the old man became irate, demanding his car back..
he paid them the money he said they couldn't spend and had it shipped
back to Jersey to his daughter's home where it sat until we decided
we were going to "live the dream" and buy her.
Now onto OUR problems: The car has a major stalling problem. It
starts up fine every time, and no, it doesn't "buck" or "sputter" but
when you start her, regardless of how full the tank is, she will only
idle for about a minute and, off she does.. dead as a doornail,
especially at intersections or when an eighteen wheeler is coming..
OOOH, she LOVES to stall when there's a chance we could all DIE!
She's also leaking oil really badly, and a new sending unit and
gasket have not helped. The drivers side window does not work, even
though I tried swapping switches. One night, on the way home, I had
the A/C on and when I stopped at a light, all of a sudden she started
making this noise.. not like a hornet, as I once heard someone say..
but it was a SCREAMING noise.. a loud "AAA-OOOOOO" a SCREAM! ..coming
from somewhere inside this car!
All these problems have led me to worry day and night about the car,
even though the mechanic who has it now says there's no rust and more
than half the hoses and stuff under her are brand new. (I guess
Grady's must've done something after all). She has 25,000 miles on
her right now, and just passed her state inspection with flying
colors. The interior, ect is all new looking.. she even had her
cargo netting and owner's manual when we got her.
Can someone help ease our worries?

I am wondering if anyone has any really good tips for getting rid of stains in my side glass from water deposits (they are irregular stains that cover the whole window as if water droplets dried on it but you can't wipe it off). i've used windex, dish soap, also break-up cleaner. nothing helps.
any ideas?

I think you are experiencing some of the normal problems that this car gets
when they sit for a long time...Without knowing exactly what was done to the
fuel system its hard to tell. Does the frequency valve buzz? are all hoses
connected corectly? Check the a/c belts and pulleys. You will get some good
responces from the DML but most people may need some more info on repairs done. I
would also join the Delorean mid atlantic club (if you are on the east coast) I
understand the frustration your previous owner felt. However, after owning my
car for 2 years I can see how quicklly repairs can escelate on my car.
For that reason I would not paint such a negative picture of Rob Grady on the
DML without all the facts. I have bought many parts from Rob and Debbie and
he has assisted me many times on the phone for no charge. Working on a Delorean
opens a pandoras box of repairs. I have often had $30 repairs become $300
repairs in 5 minutes. When my car needs major service it will go to Rob's.
Keep us updated on your progress. By the way were is the car located now?

Vin 10022 is sitting in a local dealer about 10 minutes from my house. Grey interior, 5sp, 470 miles. It never sold from a dealer that went out of business. They're asking $20,000. Its kinda funny, you say youre not making any accusations but it
sure sounds like you are. Mr Grady is a phenomenal technician, thats
for starters. Secondly $5,000 can be spend in a hurry when you are
talking about a Delorean, especially when it concerns the fuel
system. Did you ever see what a fuel distributor costs? Also whats
the mileage on the car? How, where was it stored? If the previous
owner just socked it away and then dumped it on someone he wasnt
that commited afterall. If you are going by the $25,000 rule then
perhaps you paid too much for the car, keep in mind expenses and
repairs dont stop after a set amount has been spent....the joys of
owning an exotic. Lastly, you really cant put a "cap" on certain
things and big deal they went over by $1000 dismantling costs money
too dont forget....welcome to the wonderful world of Delorean...you
thought women cost money? just wait.....you are in great hands with
Grady though have no fear good luck

You should hear a loud buzzing coming from the right side valve cover
when the motor is running. If you don't hear it the Lambda relay may
be bad. The loud squeal could be an idler pulley bearing. Don't worry,
the repairs you now may require may not be too expensive. It sounds
like the P.O. spent most of his money prettying up the interior and
doing a cooling system service. For the oil leak clean the motor with
some Gunk and a hose and then try to find the source. It could be the
other sender unit, the oil filter, a bad seal, valve cover gaskets, etc.
