I agree with both Steve and Dave's advice with one exception:
you should not let the suspension hang unsupported. This will
damage the suspension bushings. If your tires are older, you
may just want to leave the car on the ground and replace your
tires when you reactivate the car. Don't forget to keep at
least comprehensive insurance coverage on the car while it is
in storage. That will protect your car if the building collapses
around it.

In the mid 1980s there was a full time DeLorean specialty mechanic in the
East Lake area of Tampa, FL. He always had at least a half dozen
DeLoreans
parked at this shop when he was in business. If anyone knows anything

this guy (even his last name) let me know. I would like to find this guy.
He is heavy set, over 6' tall with red hair and answers to the name
Jessie.

Hello all
I'm glad to say that the first of the major steps in my retoration is
complete. I have sucessfully removed my body from the frame.
The job took about 6 hours in total, and I am now somewhat happier than I
was 6 hours ago.
Iwould like to say a big thanks to all those who gave me advice on how to
do it, Dave swingle, Nick (sorry don't know your full name) and Paul
Winsor at Wingray Autos, There were many more and thanks to you to.
I will load up some photo's in the file so you can see the process.

Subject: Problem closing door (warped???)
Hello everyone,
Since replacing the inner door seals on my car I've noticed the
Driversside door doesn't close the way it is supposed to.
Now before anyone starts blaming the seal; if I remove it I still
have the same problem, so the seal has nothing to do with it.
I just didn't notice before because of the previous seals being
worn and causing the door to require more closing force.
My problem is that the door seems to be warped; the "roof" seems
to be twisted (not visible), cuasing the "side" to come down too
far rearward. When closing the door the rear doorguide hits the
body around the strikerpin, unless I push the door forward while
pulling it closed. If I don't do so the front latch doesn't engage
fully, so I get alot of wind-noise AND I get a wet left knee when
driving through rain: the door leaks.
As you can see on www.vdwouw.demon.nl/strikerpin.jpg there are some
white markings where the SS has scuffed the GRP (?).
Does anyone have even the faintest idea on how to solve this???
Pleas let me know; this is not only annoying, but it can't be good
for the car either...

Subject: Grady Shocks and DMC Garden Grove
I drove down to LA last weekend to have my car raised back up. I had it
lowered earlier this year (springs cut all around), but it was just too
much for daily driving. So I took it down to have stock rear springs, PJ
Grady lowering front springs, and the new PJ Grady shocks installed.
There was a bit of a mixup as to when I needed the parts and when I needed
to get back up to the Bay Area. To make a long story short, I showed up to
take the car and the parts weren't put in yet. (That's a long story, but
in the end it was simply a case of poor communication on everyone's part).
Don and his amazing team were able to take out the springs and shocks and
install the new springs and shocks and have me on the road in an hour and
a half.
The ride back was great. It wasn't really until today when I went back to
work that I got to drive the roads that I drive every day. It's not really
until you drive on familiar roads that you see the difference that the PJ
Grady performance suspension setup makes. It's such an amazing ride. It's
like a brand new car. I highly recommend the Grady parts.

Subject: Bay Area DeLorean Mechanic Located!
I drove around Mountain View today looking for a place to get my car
smogged. I stopped into the Arco gas and garage at the corner of Shoreline
and Middlefield. The guy there asked if I had heard that they do work on
DeLoreans. I was expecting that this was the prelude to "because we
don't", but it turns out that they have worked on quite a few DeLoreans.
The guy's name at the shop is Dale. He has the DeLorean manuals and knows
Ed at DeLorean One (he gets parts from him). They had one DeLorean at the
shop for over 2 years. Dale said that the owner didn't use it as a primary
car and it just sort of sat around as a "whenever you have time" kind of
project.
If you're in the Bay Area and have been looking for a mechanic, you might
want to call this guy. I'll be taking my car there the next time something
comes up that I can't handle. Hopefully that won't be anytime soon.

Here is the information I have for Volvo to DeLorean Idle Speed Motors
(Regulator) compatibility
Volvo 1979-1981 260 & 264 GLE
Volvo 1982-1987 760 GLE
The 740 is equipped with a non-PRV four cylinder engine, the 79-81 260 is
a perfect match sharing the same Bosch CIS fuel injection with the
DeLorean.
I have first hand knowledge on this subject because I previously owned an
80 260 and now own a 89 760 in addition to my 260k mi. DeLorean.

I could be wrong on this, but I think it's the 740 that is the match
for the DeLorean Idle Speed Motor. The 760 uses a different type of
motor. The 740 will not be easy to get to, as the ISM is located
under the intake manifold. Don't even bother looking at the 260 for a
match. It uses an entirely different type of regulator to control the
idle with isn't compatable either.
