Are you philosophically opposed to filling tank? Even John Hervey's bottom feeder will suck air if you let fuel level drop low enough (especially on a car without lowered front end). I'd recommend running less than 25% tank only as emergency. Is risk of sucking heavy trash into pump, especially through old pickup screens. Been there, done it.
