Hi Erik A couple of additional holes in the mounting bracket allows installation of wider cones. You must be sure the cone itself does not touch the interior quarter panel. The speaker can be the highest quality you like but without an enclosure, don't expect miracles. Here's a pic of mine (incl dynamat everywhere). They're 5" JBL GTO component pairs.
