Are you trying to remove the slave cylinder from above?

Since your exhaust system is still recently replaced, I *HIGHLY*
recommend removing the crossover pipe and doing it from below. You
have no idea how much easier access is without that stupid piece of
hardware in the way. Yes, heater core supply line is all in the way,
but its barb is easily accessed from below.

My fittings are rusted together too. I simply removed the slave
cylinder with that short piece of pipe attached, transferred it to the
new cylinder, then reinstalled reverse of procedure.

FWIW: I still find it easier to bleed the system from above.
