Too late. 
The new slave cylinder is in place. You're right. The heater hose was 
in the way and it would have been from below as well.
I cut the end off and tried a plumber's disaster of couplers and 
fittings. They all leaked badly. I tore it right out. I took the 
original line nut with the rusted piece of line in it and pounded the 
piece of line out with a friggin' hammer.
Why? Because every (and I do mean -every-) parts house in a one-hour 
radius of my house positively sucks. People in the state of Maryland 
simply do not work on their own cars so parts houses do not stock 
anything worth a damn.
Tomorrow, (Saturday) I will re-flare the line with the original nut 
on it and try again. My replacement fuel line will be here as well so 
I hope to wrap it all up tomorrow. This is getting old and stupid.
Bill, you're saying you re-flare the line with a 45 degree flare and 
it doesn't leak?
