[DMCForum] Reinstalling front fascia

You might recall my question from a couple of weeks ago on replacing the
front spoiler studs - thanks to everyone who responded. I wound up
replacing the old stud plates with small pieces of steel reinforcement,
drilling holes through them and using bolts to hold the spoiler on. This
method seems to be working quite well.

As I get ready to put the front end of the car back together, I've been
laying out all the parts to make sure I remember how they all go back
together. I've got it pretty much straight, except for a couple of
brackets. I have five L-shaped brackets that the top of the air inlet
screen screws into. These brackets have holes in them for pop-rivets, but
I can't figure out what they're supposed to be riveted to. My old ones
were so rusted that they weren't actually riveted to anything. In fact, I
can only find evidence of one or two rivets in the five old brackets.

The manual is fairly silent on these pieces, and the parts manual in 8-3-1
isn't quite right, as it shows the radiator duct attaching to the top of
the inlet screen. It doesn't show what the brackets are supposed to be
riveted to anyway.

Can someone who has reassembled their front end shed some light onto my
little mystery here? Thanks!
