That's what I mean by hooking the supply fitting to the return 
fitting. By doing this, you're taking the fuel dizz out of the 
picture. When I say supply and return I meant at the fuel dizz..I 
guess I should have said that in the first post.

Also, someone (my memory is feeble) just suggested using a cheap 
electric pump instead of your fuel pump. This may be a good idea. 

Anyhow, then at the pump you have the other end of the supply line 
(attached to the pump) drawing from your bucket and you put the other 
end of the return line in the bucket.

As far as the suction hose being a bit soft, you have a choice.

a) replace it since everything's apart
b) buy a stainless steel spring and stretch it out, clip the ends 
off, and stick it in the suction hose. 

This will keep it from collapsing. I've heard of many DML'er's who do 
this.

Think I should have posted my "head gasket replacement" procedure? I 
dunno...
