RE: [doc] "new" new cars

As a Ford employee, I would recomend a new Fiesta or a Fusion.  Both are 
almost as big as the out going Focus, so there should be plenty of room, 
plus the 1.4 TDCi engine delivers good economy.  Not that I'm biassed or 
anything.

Talking of the MG Rover collapse, we've been having some discussions at work 
about how that could affect us, and not all of it is good.

For a start we still get the 1.8 K series and 2.5 KV6 eninge from Rover for 
use in the Land Rover Freelander - might be a problem.  Plus theres the 
componants that we supply to Rover, such as the IB5 gearbox for use in the 
Rover 25/45 - MG ZR/ZS, V8 engines for the ZT and the new SV, plus some 
smaller bits and pieces.

There are some up-sides to this however.  Such as the problems due to the 
current world shortage of steel will be less.  And of course Rover won't be 
able to subsidise their engines to put them into vehicles such as the 
Caterham 7, Morgan +4, etc - which should leave the way open for Ford to go 
back to supplying those manufactures.

What I have to question, is given that the government has given them 
£6.5million to pay for a week's wages and that there are 6,500 workers - 
does that mean they're paid £1,000 per week, or are the recievers taking a 
slice out of that??
