I am trying to be proactive of prices continuing to "creep up" in the next few years (as they already have) and will likely continue to do so as a result of these auctions. My fear would be a scenario where something happens to my car in the upcoming few years, and price of an equivalent car is $35K or more. Three years ago I felt comfortable knowing that cars for sale in the $25K range were equal to mine, but recently I have seen cars purchased for $22-25K that (IMHO) are not in as good of shape as mine. I have seen these new owners then pour $5-7K more into the car to fix know issues or cosmetics. Hence my concern that $30K may be "on the edge" of reason for a suitable replacement, and in the coming years that will only slip further out of range. All that means is that someone made a expensive mistake, and didn't know the market price for a DeLorean. Insurance is intended to provide you with the replacement value, which is supposed to be the roughly the market value plus any purchasing costs. Within the DeLorean community, you know that you can buy a car in the same condition as yours all day long for less than 30K.
