I never trust the selling prices at these auction houses...as the majority of the time the Auctioneer....Believe it or not...is upping the selling bids without anybody bidding on them... go to any major Auction house and record the crowd then play it back...you will see what I am talking about..why the heck do you think the Auctioneer uses that fast paced bidding voice and then there is the "suspect" telephone bidding...yea right...it's all a game..as the higher the price the more the Auction house gets...the real world price is the trade in value..what dealers sell them for..Hemmings...craigslist..even DMCNEWS classified...anything but the unreal world of the auction houses!! It's great to brag on how much a NORMAL Delorean sold at a Auction House...but do not expect to use that as a reason to try to get 50K for a 15K Delorean. Remember, the higher your agreed price the higher your premium. One way to decide what your car is worth, if you were to sell your car today what can you expect to get for it, be honest, are you really going to get $50K? Unless it is "special" in some way, extremely low mileage, owned by a celebrity, was in a movie, $30K is probably a fair price. I would ask what the difference would be to up the value to $40K or $50K and then decide. Agreed value will only come into play if the car disappears (is stolen) or is totaled in an accident. Both are unlikley but possible. You might also want quotes from others than Grundy. Try Haggarty, Taylor, Classic, and others specializing in collector car insurance. > David Teitelbaum > > > > > [moderator snip] > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
