Re: [DML] DOA/DCS

With all the posts on this subject I have to get new reading glasses.

Let me add my 2 cents
With the change in the economy everything has been affected including DCS, DOA the vendors and everything else related to the car.

Businesses that do not respond end up as you know down and out eventually.

Some of these moves are economics and All of the players that have been affected have talked it over.
You all know why I started DCS magazine well that reason is gone so why continue. I do car shows in the even years and will continue that without the magazine distraction. I think you all like the shows.

Josh has done the magazine for years so he is the logical choice to do it and so is the DOA plus the DOA does have merit in the history, They are helping me now where I spent hours trying to help them in the past.

I have free time now YEA.

Josh for the record in a conversation with me discussed what I do and what he does,
He runs the DOA not me in the background and as you see in these discussions I am not involved. If asked I will answer questions or help as needed but I think Josh had done a good job so far and so did Ken Baker to change the prospective.

The DOA will help support Rob Lamrock in Eurofest. Without that either Rob would have to do it or I would. Ron Ferguson and the DOA have it and that is a service to the community. They have a lot of records that I am sure Josh will be able to do some good with.

They also will (with the support and help of non DOA members as well) continue a West show and support the East shows I do.

As an only magazine if DMCH blends in and that I am not saying will or will not happen completes the cycle and puts things back to making the DOA the collector of Delorean history. If it works out right we all need to support that.

My suggestion is to let Josh get things going he has so much on his plate with all this stuff he needs to spend time putting the comments to good use and less time wearing his fingers out typing responses to each question.
While that is admirable it does wear you out.

Give it a chance to find a direction and most of you seem to support Josh so let him do his job.

I look forward to the streamlining and I hope the shows benefit from it both East and West.

The books are not the same I had that question.

DeLorean Car Show Inc and DCS magazine is its own entity.

IF the DOA wants to Use DCS West II for a show they have my blessing but it will be under their books not mine.
They still from what I understand have the Eurofest Expo so that helps branch out.

I wish them well and will do what they ask for support but again Josh runs the DOA I did not attend the last phone meeting like some of you in private e-mails asked. Its Josh's call.

He has been in this community long enough as a support player to me so now he is the man for the DOA.

Lets support the effort and see where it leads us. So far it seems to be working look at your responses.

If I charged Ken Koncelik for my design services to put together "DCS
Magazine", it would be well over $5000 per issue at my regular hourly rate

Multiply that by 4 times a year, and you have a rough idea of where the
majority of your membership dues go if you are currently a member of the
DOA. That is all changing, because from here on out, I will be donating my
time to assemble and format "DeLorean World". I will also use my
connections in the printing world to make sure we aren't paying more than we
should there. This reduction in expenses will directly translate to either
a reduction in the cost of Association membership, or in us being able to
provide our members with much more for that fee. It will be up to the Board
to decide what the best approach is. They can use your input!

Thanks for your continued support!

I *like* the DOA. For years I was its biggest proponent on the DML and I
am pleased to see so many DMLers take an interest and jump to its
defense. Bravo.

I agree that the cost of magazines is part of the DOA's dues, but that
cannot be the whole explanation.

There are certainly bigger membership pools for the Studebaker and
Porsche marquees, but what about Bricklin? There is no mathematical
reason for the DOA to be so much more expensive than the Bricklin
International Owner's Group. And Brickline magazine is (supposedly) a
quarterly publication.
