Hi Dani - Thanks for the information. I don't believe the problem in my case is the alternator; I don't have a drop in voltage when the noise happens. Also, the whine seems to occur regardless of whether the fan is on or not. The only consistent thing about the whine is that is sometimes occurs when going from a fully stopped position to moving... just as I let go of the clutch to get moving in first gear. Thanks again. A way to tell is to look at your volt gauge when the noise is happening (will read lower) and then again after the sound stops (gauge will read normal voltage). Or if you have your fan on it will sound sluggish when it's happening (lack of voltage) and sound normal when it's not. Perhaps its your problem as well, or perhaps not. -----Dani B. #5003 > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
