Thank you for this explanation.
I'm used to driving in Europe and some 600 miles is not bad.
However I'm going to drive in another country, motorized more than 
the "old world".

I like to drive my D too and I'm not afraid of making distances 
(in '92 in a two driver car) we did Atlanta-Houston in a day.
Of course since then I have not grown younger :)

Probably this trip is going to be more miles than anticipated but 
this is my only chance now to actually drive my D in the USA AND meet 
my friend in my own car! Worth taking the chance of getting awfully 
tired.

As Marc L said about him himself, to a heavy foot, that also applies 
to me and I already have gotten advice to purchade a radar detector.
