Group, I have been holding off on letting the group know that I have now had a new door strut made to the specification I wanted. I was tired of the doors banging at the top during the hot summer and barely lifting the door in winter. The company and engineer that I worked with used to work at Stabilus in the US so he knew exactly what I meant which made this project easier. These are not an off the shelf item with any company. We need more damper at the top and a little better lift when cold. So the strut was made to the exact factory Delorean compressed and extended specification, and we used a more expensive oil for the damper with a better temperature coefficient so the sun and heat from the top won't make as a dramatic difference in the oil and how it effects the damper. And it has a little better lift in the cold weather due to the oil and gas used. I didn't spend a lot of time for cold weather problems because the cars for up north people are in storage most of the winter and for the southern folks like me we don't have to worry much about cold lift because we don't have as much really cold weather and if we do we will drive a different car to the store. And yes the torsion bars are the factory adjustment. They have not been messed with on the 2 test cars I worked with in the 40 degree to 80 degree weather test. And for you cynics and people that just want to pick it apart, yes I know it may not work for everyone based on your torsion bar door adjustments, -4 degrees weather, what you have launching the doors and so on but if you want to make something different then pay the fee's and we will do it. I now have a company that will do it any way we want. Oh, And did I mention they are concourse / original looking quality and not black rods like my Stabilus and others. Oh, And the little balls can screw in and out for a little more adjustment. This is just another thing I do when I'm not 2 weeks behind on orders, on the phone and sleeping.
