I don't find it useless. It is an indicator of the leakiness of the check valve and the primary pressure regulator. If the accumulator is dead it won't hold the rest pressure more than a couple of minutes. The rest pressure is 3.3 Bar and the minimum after 10 min is 1.7 Bar. You don't need rest pressure after the car cools enough so that during the cranking cycle the cold start valve will work. A lot depends on ambient temperature.
