Refurbished is usually referred to furniture,as in redoing antique furniture. Or a electronic item, that was defective or returned and refurbished to as original condition to resell(at a lower price than the exact NEW item) With cars it is usually referred to as restored/rebuilt/OEM etc. Refurbished in car terms usually is a word scammers use to try to pawn off as restored/rebuilt,when in fact nothing or very little was done, usually a wax job/degreasing/tune-up..cover-up rust(usually with cheap bondo) painting( body panels) or the undercarriage to seem as new,(a lot of used car lots "refurbish cars")to make the car seem restored or rebuilt to as new. Which again is nothing but a scam,to make the car look better than it really is,and to fetch a MUCH higher price!! To put the value in the highest rate as in the NADA book. Basically it is used to attract the unwary consumer into buying the car..that if left as it was originally, they would in no way had bought it. But again usually not to improve the longevity of the car,but just to make a quick buck.
