I really like the Delorean that is why I have spent 22 years of my life into them, but to put a Glossy picture that the car was Done really right is just plain wrong..It would just totally make a future owner just despise and hate the car after buying it..it is best if the truth is told, and the rose colored glasses are taken off..that being said, since the cars are now 25+ years old,and after seeing a *lot* of Deloreans that could use major restorations..but yet at first glance look really nice..the Delorean is one of the few cars out there that could easily look very nice, but underneath all the niceness, which I am sure a few people on this list could agree with me..was a nasty surprise of $$$$$ of dollars worth of repairs to be done just to make the car road worthy. In the 1980's-90's you *could* get by without doing all the repairs that have now come do since the cars had not aged to the point of major serious repairs, now that cars are reaching their "senior" age..People have to KNOW and be advised of the weak points in the Delorean in order to make sure they are not driving a "Accident waiting to Happen" as there are people out there that have NOT a clue as to what is happening under that shiny Stainless Steel..In some cases people see shiny stainless Steel and a decent black under- body, and a good running motor and think everything is A-OK,meanwhile the front suspension is rotting out,the trailing arm bolts are about to snap, the wiring is melting etc...It is BEST to be informed Good or bad..than to be clueless into what could be happening while driving a 25+ year old classic.Drive Safe Drive Stainless Claude --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Marc Levy <malevy_nj@...> wrote: > > (AUTHOR NOTE: Can we adjust subject lines as needed > when replying?) > > While I hate to give Claude any fuel for his argument, > The folks I heard speak at the DOC event last year at > Lotus were clear that the DeLorean design project was > a "side job".
